Recent news from Troop 101 on the web

Troop 101 Eagle Scout Project project made it into Scouting Magazine's Extreme Makeover series on Eagle Projects.

There are some very remarkable project on the site.  To have one our projects featured on the site is nice.

Giving Back to the Community

Prospective Eagle Scout, Matthew of Boy Scout Troop 101 of Darien, IL led a team of volunteers installing a commemorative brick path in front of the old school bell in front of Prairieview Elementary School. A project benefiting the community must be planned and executed as part of the requirement for attaining the highest rank in Boy Scouts.  Matthew chose this project because he attended school, and cub scouts here.  “It is nice to create lasting memories in a place that has created a lasting impression on me.”

The project is a culmination of over 350 hours of volunteer planning and execution.  Matthew had over 20 volunteers from Troop 101 digging, flattening, and laying the bricks.  The project is a great success says Tim Arnold, Superintendent of Center Cass School District #66, who summed it up  “The bricks look great!  Job well done!”

Team 66 sponsored this project that allow donors to engrave a special commemorative brick.  The proceeds help fund grants to Center Cass School District 66 teachers, which then benefit the students. There was a celebration and ribbon cutting of the brick path.
